BOUQ Paper Flowers Workshop
The Hansa Rose

Create a beautiful Hansa Rosa Rugosa flower from crepe paper.  No experience necessary.  At this time of year, the Icelander's have a saying that the weather is 'glugga veður' or 'window weather'.  Its beautiful outside, the sun is shining, but step outside and the wind and cold instantly chill the bones.  Yes, better to enjoy the day through the window!  The sunny and vibrant days of March mean that Spring is indeed around the corner, transforming this land into a verdant landscape of volcanic rock and flora.

Catherine Oxley, the artist behind BOUQ Paper Flowers is excited to present her first workshop in Iceland at the serene Grasagarður Botanical Garden in the capital city of Reykjavik.  Over the span of 3 hours, Catherine will lead you through the creation of the Hansa Rosa Rugosa from crepe paper.  From its detailed center stamen, flowing petals, and thorny stem, you will recreate all of the flower's fine details and hold a replica of the flower at the end of the workshop.

The Hansa rose (a 'Rosa Rugosa') was selected for the workshop for its special meaning to the artist.  On a previous visit to Iceland, Catherine was captivated by the various installations of Rosa Rugosa all across the city.  In order to capture all of the flower's details, she took numerous photos to study and document the flower so that it could be recreated from paper at a later date.  Finally, this flower will come to life in paper.

In this workshop, all of the materials are provided.  Working with premium Italian crepe papers from Carte Fini, Catherine will guide you through the process of creating an organic and realistic representation of this gorgeous bloom for you to enjoy for years to come.

Light refreshments will be served.

All materials are included; however we ask that you please bring a sharp pair of scissors for the workshop (a limited number of scissors will be available for purchase on site for an additional charge). No prior experience is necessary.
