A flower worth slowing down for

The Top Brass peony is one of the most sculptural and captivating peonies ever bred. Introduced in 1968 by American peony breeder Carl G. Klehm, it is a double “bomb” form peony: broad ivory-white guard petals open like a saucer, framing a dense, rounded centre of canary-yellow, blush-pink, and ivory petaloids.

Its colour story is what makes it so irresistible to translate into paper: soft blush tones fade into near-white, while a luminous yellow centre brings warmth and depth. The result feels almost like a tiny botanical sculpture—layered, voluminous, and full of movement.

What you’ll create

Over two relaxed afternoon sessions, you will design and hand-build your own Top Brass peony, from the first petal to the final sculptural centre.

You’ll learn:

  • How to shape, texture, and form realistic peony petals
  • Techniques for building the signature “bomb” centre of the Top Brass
  • Colour blending to achieve its ivory, blush, pink, and golden-yellow palette
  • Assembly, layering, and finishing for a full, life-like bloom
  • How to finish your flower for display at home or as a gift
  • You’ll leave with a finished statement piece—and the skills to keep creating.

Designed for beginners

This workshop is welcoming, supportive, and completely beginner-friendly. No previous experience with paper flowers, crafting, or art is needed. I’ll guide you through every stage with clear demonstrations, personal support, and plenty of time to experiment.

Come alone, bring a friend, or treat someone who loves flowers, design, or creative experiences.

NOTE: All materials are provided but we ask you to please bring a sharp pair of scissors to the workshop.
