Handcrafted Botanical Sculpture

The Oriental Poppy began as a gift from my son — a flower brought to me with quiet tenderness, and one I will always hold close. Its delicate petals and brief life once cut made it feel all the more precious, so I patterned it immediately, preserving in paper what nature could only offer for a moment.

This piece traces the poppy’s story from bud to full bloom. The piece includes 3 stems.  Each stem, leaf, and unfolding petal is shaped by hand to reveal a different stage of life: the promise of the closed bud, the vulnerability of the opening flower, and the luminous confidence of the bloom at its height. The colour is extraordinary — rich, saturated, and softly layered — capturing the living intensity of the Oriental Poppy without ever fading.

Crafted from premium Italian crepe paper, this is a one-of-a-kind botanical sculpture. Subtle variations in shaping, colour placement, and texture are inherent to its handmade nature, making this piece entirely singular.
