Himalayan Blue Poppy
Handcrafted Botanical Sculpture
I encountered the Himalayan Blue Poppy in Iceland on a city roundabout, after a recent storm had snapped its stem and scattered most of its petals. I could hardly believe my eyes — I had never seen this flower in person, and it felt like extraordinary fortune to happen upon it.
I rescued the remaining stem and was rewarded when the tiny bud that survived began to bloom. That moment became the heart of this piece: a flower found in fragments, yet still holding the promise of life. The Himalayan Blue Poppy is breathtaking in its colour story, beginning in deep purples and gradually softening into turquoise and magenta.
Each stem, leaf, and petal is shaped by hand from premium Italian crepe paper, preserving the flower’s rare beauty in a form that will not fade. Subtle variations in shaping, colour placement, and texture are inherent to its handmade nature, making this botanical sculpture entirely one of a kind.
