BOUQ Paper Flowers + Designer Jackie Glass for Cityline

Since the inception of BOUQ Paper Flowers, only 2 short months ago, I hoped that this endeavor would give me the opportunity to work with industry leaders in television, print, and events.  When designer Jackie Glass contacted me to ask if I would like to participate in her Holiday Style 2018 segment for Cityline, I was overjoyed!  For 15 years, I was a model on Cityline's "Fashion Fridays" and the opportunity to participate on the show in another facet was really exciting.

Jackie's theme was clean and elegant holiday styling with a blush and blue colour theme.  I was provided with a color swatch of Benjamin Moore's Georgia Pink and the request to utilize seasonal greenery such as eucalyptus, roses and hypericum berries.  The vision immediately came to mind.  Elevate the materials to create texture and drama over the dining area which would compliment her stunning outdoor views of her property.  Her chandelier had a modern form that would provide a good base for my design and create a botanical burst effect from the fixure's center.

Assembling the branches and flowersWith just shy of a week to complete the paper branches and flowers, I got to work.  All told, I created just over 500 leaves for the chandelier and 6 place setting ornaments that could be gifted to guests after a holiday dinner party.

Paper flower place setting ornamentGorgeous european doublette (double sided) crepe paper was hand tinted with acrylic inks to match Jackie's colour selection perfectly.  I then crafted a series of Juliette roses in various stages of growth.  This practice creates a more organic feel to any arrangement.  Lastly, I made bunches of sweet glossed blush hypericum berries to add additional pops of colour within the arrangment and ornaments.

I was thrilled with the final result of the work.  The chandelier maintained its light and airy presence yet provides a touch of holiday cheer.  The wonderful benefit of this paper flower arrangement, is that it can be taken down and reassembled into a large vase for display for many years to come.

A big thank you to Jackie Glass and Karen Kirk for involving me in their special project for Cityline.  It was a wonderful experience to work with such a creative and generous duo.  Let's do it again soon ;)
