Cutting Work Required For Art Installation
Thank you so much for your enthusiastic response to my call for collaborators — it’s truly wonderful to see such excitement from the Studio BOUQ community! This is a really special project, and I’m thrilled to be able to involve talented paper flower artists like you.
For this commission, I’m hiring artists to cut and prepare the paper required to create the Billy Balls. Your completed paper strips will be shipped to Canada, where they’ll be arranged and assembled into the final flowers.
To guide you through the process, I’ll be creating a step-by-step video tutorial, which you’ll be enrolled in through Teachable. This video will demonstrate exactly how to create the paper strips for the Billy Balls.
Project Details
- Compensation: The work is paid per completed block of flowers. Each block represents a set number of hours. Your hourly rate × the number of hours per block determines your total payment.
- Blocks: Each block consists of 20 Billy Balls. Every Billy Ball requires 2⅓ strips of fringed paper, totaling 47 strips for one block. Each block represents 32 hours of work and is paid accordingly.
- Timing: Because of the tight deadline, I’ll need to know how many blocks you’d like to commit to so I can plan production accordingly.
- Materials: The project requires 180 g Cartefini crepe paper. If you don’t already have the necessary colors, you can purchase them; the cost will be added to your final payment.
- Shipping: Once your paper strips are complete, I’ll organize shipping to Canada via UPS, FedEx, or similar. I’ll just need the box dimensions and weight to generate a label — you can then either schedule a pickup or drop it off locally.
Next Steps
If you’re still interested in participating, please reply with:
- Your hourly wage expectation (including currency), and
- Your Instagram link (or photos of previous work). If you’ve made any flowers that involve fringing, I’d love to see them — this is a fringing-specific project.
I’m genuinely thrilled with the response to this collaboration call. The Studio BOUQ community is such a special, talented group, and this project will only succeed through artists coming together. I’m deeply grateful that you’d like to be part of it.
Thanks again, and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Regards,
Catherine
